from In Her Room

      Undoing

My sister came home in tears while
      I was watching cartoons. Mother
      didn’t see her.

Yet she came down for dinner
like normal and washed the dishes after.

      She washed the dishes slowly.
The back of her head saying
      more than it should.

What face did she wear this morning?
She put on her clothes so fast
the buttons seemed out of place
